The Irish Navy is Shrinking!

Ireland has not really got a navy as such, neither has it a army or an air force, but rather a combined defense forces, since it is a small country sharing a land border with the U.K.

In recent years it has greatly updated its equipment and so its fishery protection forces, having eight new vessels, but it has also a reduced recruitment in the last year, which has lead to two of its new patrol ships being sidelined and smaller converted tugs from New Zealand and home built vessels coming into service!

These vessels might be small, but they are still designed to have a punch in their operations and so they replace two for four plus types of the south-east and south-west of the nation.

The world is now no longer relying on back breaking workers, when they can employ new even heavier machines to do the work much faster above and below ground?

What is the set back in much construction today is getting the measurements right, if off by a few millimeters disaster will strike that is why the Elizabeth London cross-rail and the new link to Birmingham is taking so long!

It is amazing how Telford and Brunel did it with a sink line and thousands of mostly Irish navies and made the U.K. great as many other countries have followed.

A British Success Story.

The basis of many British military tracked vehicles from 1969 to the present have been based on the chassis and engine of the Alvis. Two of the most popular have been the Scorpion light tank, now known as a ARV (armoured reconnaissance vehicle) and the Scimitarr with its 30mm Cannon.

The Scorpion has tow choices of gun, the standard 76mm or the option for the 90mm Cockerel which has proven superior for the role of this vehicle with the Irish Army on UN duties in South-Lebanon.

There are many other versions, numbering about thirty-three in all from engineering, recovery and command. Alvis was also very successful in their wheeled vehicles such as the Saladin prior to tracked. All of its vehicles have a good story in the exportation of and use world wide.

Mysterious Booms.

There has been recent speculation as to what is going on across the United Kingdom in relation to booms and various explosions. Last month I head one of these and for me it sounded like the old Concorde and its sonic booms.

Then one could hear Concorde crossing the Atlantic if you were living or working out in the open in the south of the Irish Republic. It is viable that both the F-35 and F-22 jets are now on training runs before their respective deployments to the British Royal navies two new Aircraft carriers.

Apart from that, it could be a cover up or News blackout on widespread terrorism in the U.K. But it would eventually spill out if there was?
