Tunnel Boring!

Machines that make tunnel under the Ground?

Ninety years ago these same machines were created for up to sixteen men to work within the rolling drum digging out the soil, rock, sand by hand and many were killed, either falling forward or back!

But today these boring machines are much bigger and longer, being automated, still crewed by with more safety at hand and they can with lasers work more accurately to also lay the framework of these tunnels with reinforced sections?

Eventually it is expected with A.I. that all types of machines with be robotic and serviced when out of operations, while all controls will come from a control room than the need for human intervention!

Currently the largest borers are building a underwater canal across China and other transport links, with motorways through mountain tunnels and bridges cutting time on land distant travel on winding roads and rail?

A year or two of Changes!

 COVID-19 has changed Everything?

Sickness, lockdown, uncertainty and having to close down our website has taken its toll, but we are back and are hoping to kick on, if not also catch up slowly?

There are many changes because of this Pandemic in travel, transport and technology from medical to the factory floor and sadly many of our older friends and family have succumb to this lack of air disease!

We are moving into space tourism and from electric battery possibilities to gas, but it was Russia who lead the way or already have done it as well as being so advanced in robotics that they are now fitted and operating on the ISS!

Yet the west and Europe still maintains that S-Korea and Japan are the future for these developments, when they are not apart from gaming and even Canada is now responsible for most of that?

New Technology. Part-One.

Drones to Robotics?

Much of what we are terming new has been around for some time in one form or another, but the applications are perhaps newer rather than new? Drones are improving all the time and plans for deployment in the Mars mission as a helicopter have been suggested, while back on Earth the police and search and rescue are using them with effective search and observation results!

Robotics, as in Androids are also improving but no suggestion as yet for sending into Space has been made? On the industrial front, they will perhaps in years to come have a great advantage with helping older folks and young children and the disabled as in both cases!

There are many military applications for both, at this time many poorer nations will probably opt for drones over that of Robots or Androids for border patrols and police work? Drones are much cheaper to deploy than helicopters, unless a large area needs covering or someone in trouble needs to be rescued?

Artificial Intelligence. Part-Two

Knowing.

This is some realy old stuff, but back in the 1970's West-Germany, the police introduced a robotic policeman to guide traffic and for years no one actually ever knew that he was not real.

This robot in a police uniform had authority and respect, he stayed out in all weathers and no one ever thought anything was strange.

Today our train driver or other roles could be in the hands of robots, and we being so busy now with technology, emails and the various sharing sites, would not take notice.

Artificial Intelligence. Part-One.

Mans fear of A.I.

It would seem that there are a number of scientists and writers who at this time are trying to warn the world that A.I is developing at an alarming rate. They are warning that within 100 years Humanity could be extinct and replaced with self-thinking and repairing robots.

The Robotics industry has now moved on from automobile manufacturing to the various 'Asimo type humanoid machines. Honda of Japan has been one of the leaders in this field of robotics, but so has Germany and Russia.

But it all lies in the construction of U.S. Military self thinking processors that have been fitted to Predator and Raptor drones being used in Afghanistan, N-Pakistan and now the Syrian-Iraqi ISIL (Islamic State in Levant) front. Many other experimental types of U.S. robotics have been deployed in Yemen, Somalia and the Kenyan-Ethiopia region.

I want to look further into this and see the benefits of these Robots and why there are fears arising?

ROBOTS. Part-One.

For Warfare.

Science fiction and reality is now becoming part of everyday living, or dying in relation to warfare. The drone/UAV has been around for sometime, but since the 1970's and Israel's needs, many nations such as the US and Great Britain have followed with their own versions. Russia was actually the first to develop this type of platform.

But we have robotic aircraft, naval and army systems now controlling a whole host of devices, from artillery fire control and targetting to the bomb disposal robots

Remote controlled aircraft perhaps will eventuality lead to both tanks and ships, if they do not already exist in secret.

The Asimo robot and its counterparts may be the robotic soldiers of the future?  What will define robotics, will be the development of self thinking machines and that may be our downfall?

The Sci-fi Reality. Part-Two.

Too Much?

Some would say that we have gone to far and done too much in such a short time span?

With the positives also has to come the negatives of advancement, science has provided humans with flight, medicines and machines. New materials and sources of energy to drive our new found world.

But we have also developed new weapons, poisons gasses and biological agents.

Humanity has the capability for the first time to wipe himself off the face of his own world. We wonder what happened to the dinosaurs?  From Tanks to Intercontinental ballistic missiles, from Mustard gas to Cyclone-b, to Genetic engineering and robotic drones. Lasers in space, to a new breed of high speed aircraft, believed to be known as Aurora.

The future will see deep space travel, cloned humans and new types of chemical and biological warfare, if not a nuclear war.

We just need to sit back, think and question a bit more?

The Sci-Fi, Reality. Part-One.

How much?

Humanity has progressed at a very fast pace in the last 150 years, what was written as pulp fiction eighty years ago has now become a reality. Man has gone into space, to the Moon, has built a Space station and is sending robotic probes to more than just the planets in our solar system.

We have massive ships and fast trains, Levitation railways, and automobiles that are both fast and comfortable. The Cell or Mobile phone now dominates our lives, we cannot live without them. Microwave cooking, Solar panels, computers, inter-active TV.

What we have developed now is amazing, but what will we have achieved in the next 150 years?
