Modern Armoured Vehicle. Two.

BAE Systems Republic of South-Africa.

The British army and a few others have opted for a new range of light armoured-less vehicles, believing their speed will help them on the battle field. But light vehicles were tried in the past like the British Crusader light-tank and they were of no value with great losses.

Urban environments demand armoured trucks and Jeeps, as commonly seen in N-Ireland and SWAT teams at work in the United States. In fact nearly every country that have their own automotive industry will produce some form of an armoured vehicle.

The enemy on the battle field uses Anti-tank guided weapons, from the RPG to something more sinister. While in the urban situation it will be either a home-made pipe bomb or a nail bomb of which both can kill and cause very serious injuries.

BAE Systems have taken several of the South-African security vehicles from the 'Aparthied days and re-designed them. The Republic of Ireland, Belgium and a few other countries have bought into some of the more basic designed vehicles that suit their UN military standard.

Auto-Gyros.

Simple and Cheaper.

The Gyro-Copter is now available to anyone who can afford to buy or to build their own (See Gyro-Planes. Part-One/Two).

New types of plastic and fibre glass have made this concept of combined aircraft and helicopter much lighter from using glass and metal.

The concept was first conceived jointly in the 1930's in Nazi-Germany and the United States, by the late 50's into the 1960's there were several types flying. From one to five seat versions and the British were responsible for building the largest ever. But they never really took off, in one or two of the fictional James Bond movies 'Nelli was a serious contender for a real military version.

It was believed that designer Barnes-Wallis may of built special one offs for the British secret service?

Today there are still many uses for this type of aircraft from patrol of borders to many other similar inspection works, on electricity and pipe lines, other than that it is for sheer pleasure

Modern Airships. Part-One.

Scientific and Zoological Research.

Modern airships are now coming to their fore in the role of atmospheric research, they are ideal for this role because of their slow speed. They more or less can float along with the clouds or the weather systems, of course not all weather is ideal for them.

Other near future roles may be police observation duties and other line inspection in the oil, gas, electric industries. The Airship would also be great for observing how fish, whales, shark's and dolphins migrate and how herds of animals and birds migrate across the Oceans and the continents?
