A point has to Come?
The demand for more metal items is actually on the decline as we said before, since the introduction of new types of combined plastics. Ship building and the need for the construction, road and railway building industry will continue to demand metal.
But the reallity is we will at some point need to start to re-cycle steel or we will face the WALLY situation of a world glut dump of metal and all the rubbish that the human race is accumilating.
The peoples Republic of China has given the world a gift while pricing its own self out? The idea that the steel market in a few years will lift up cannot be sustained by the building debt on some of these plants across the world.
This is serious in the west, when mainy are linked to pension schemes that are becoming chains to profits and something will have to be done by governments who may take advice to convert over that of closing down?

Road Trains. Part-Four.
Siberia.
The roads of the Siberian wilderness and great forests go in a straight line it would seem for ever and ever? What cannot be moved by trains or flown in by aircraft or even shipping has to be taken by road. Canada may have its Ice road truckers, but here we have some of the most bravest drivers in the world.
The Russian Federation has been involved in the oil, gas and mineral expansion for well over 50 years now in greater-Siberia. Pipe-lines get out most of the gas and fuels, but the moving of heavy machinery and people, food supplies and those odd bits road is still a vital link.
Russia has always had one of the worlds largest automotive industries and has built quite a variety of trucks over the years. The Ural, Maz, Baz and Gaz have also produced many versions both for civil construction and the military. Older vehicles have a long life in Russia, more on simplicity to repair and reliability they just keep going.

Construction Vehicles.
The Bulldozer.
All modern construction across the globe today is supported by a series of vehicles to help tear away the earth, to dig, to tunnel underground and erected up to support building up. We cannot live or do anything without machines.
The bulldozer has been around now for some time, its origins come from the caterpillar tractor of U.S. 1920's. Tracked vehicles work well on rough and unstable ground, but with the introduction of the JCB double powered 4 wheel machines the bulldozer is not now limited just to heavy construction.
A tractor type based on the Unimog multi-purpose off road vehicle has allowed a more basic machine to expanded into road building scene. but despite this the old bulldozer cannot be done without. Caterpillar in one of the biggest producers in the world. These Cats' are widely used by the military also.

Drill Rigs.
The oil and gas rigs at sea are perhaps some of most impressive structures that the human mind has conceived. Many rigs are towed from construction/ship building yards to the point of drill work. But now dedicated ships have been built to perform this type of work off the coast of South-America (Brazil).
The future looks more interesting, if this type of vessel could replace the standard platforms. Meaning that during severe weather it could be moved?

Trucks....
They come in all shapes and sizes and we can't really do without them?
The truck, Juggernaut, lorry is truly a most invaluable machine for the movement of all types of goods, from small loads in a local vicinity to big loads across vast distances. No matter where in the world you go, you will find them at work.
Monster carriers are used in modern quarrying and in similar heavy construction sites. In Australia cattle, sheep are moved across distances in road trains. But it is probably ore that is one of the commonest uses found for trucks.
Shipping and trains also play their part for the very vast distances, but otherwise it will be a truck of some description in the local area. With the development of newer types, new engines and better cab design, trucks have come a long way.
But the future for them will be the development of improved fuel, re-performance and new sources of power, instead of diesel, petrol?
