Racing car Fuels?

This is a world-wide popular sport that basically uses aviation type fuels, if not that of rocket combustion chemicals and there is little data to tell us what damage is being done to the atmosphere if not higher up to?

We tend to blame everything the burning of fossil fuels, but it remains unclear about these fuels and how our made made radiation is effecting the climate too!

Most of the Middle-East that host this sport during the winter months do not believe the COP conference data, which they say proves nothing and now that deals on fossils are being done what is the point of complying by rules that are getting broken?

With Trump back in power, he wants musk to start drilling on Mars for detected fossil amounts, so that car racing and other can continue, while a space dock could be built in space, what a visionary!!!

Classic Cars, not what they Seem Anymore?

 Bangers & Cash, Car SOS, Wheeler Dealers and find it, fix it and flog it!

These are some of the popular car restoration TV programme's in the U.K. that rebuild old cars and make them road safe for various clients, but also for auctions and they are interesting even for people who are not really vehicle fads?

But now with much new technology about many want to update the engines to LPG or Electric and for some this is an abomination, while for others it makes sense to pull away from burning fossil fuels!

If this does occur we may see some of the early concepts become more alive on our roads, such as steam coaches and wagons, and what future designs become of them in the world of electric and AI powered motoring?

Norway has become a leader in this new conception, while many who started the trend such as Tesla are going out with financial costs running to high. Many countries claim to have something to develop in the area, but it will be some time before we see a real all electric powered vehicle, rather than a battery operated one?

Battery is not bad but the technology for it has not changed much in the last one hundred years so apart from solar and alternative energies we will just have to wait and see is there really any alternative to fossil fuels even in the near future!

We do not get to hear to much of what is going on in the developing world when it come to this type of technology and what breakthroughs that they have made with alternatives to fossil extraction fuels!

The Electric Engine?

A revolution in machine Technology!

Many countries have now committed themselves to the development of a carbon free source of power and in this century we will see great changes, as much as in past with the steam and petrol engines!

Getting rid of carbon emissions will certainly help the environment and despite as yet unknown side-effects this is perhaps one of the best developments for humanity truly since the wheel?

Many nations claim to already have the ability to produce cars and land vehicles, but the challenge comes with flight and with shipping? We will have to wait a few more years to see what happens and how it will effect and replace what is now conventional! 

The other area that will determine its future is that of keeping down the costs in production and what will be used to produce the electricity, hopefully not the continued burning of more fossil fuels?

New Technology! Part-Three.

Driverless?

Where will we be in fifty years when it comes to the design of transport that does not need a human driver? The automobile will perhaps be the first to change shape from a box to a saucer, while trains will be much slimmer and more aerodynamic for long distance travel?

Many existing Tube, Metro and Underground railways along with levitation and monorails are driverless! The problems with this technology is that of employing in a car, there have been several death resulting from computer malfunction and human recognition?

What other areas would benefit are perhaps hazardous work places and the Nuclear industry, even mining as well as hostile Space and the Oceans? Much of what we already have working in these areas are either military or government funded research and it would seem that we still have a long way to go in some areas over that of others?

These are but some of the strangest ships on the worlds seas today, moving mostly cars and jeep types from country to country. 

Between 5-7000 vehicles may be carried and stabilisation of their loads are crucial in case of slippage, Many also carry mechanical excavation equipment and farm machinery.

This allows for choice of different types to be available across the world. some may be also carrying military vehicles under the guise of civil and other tracked type heavy vehicles. 

Civilian shipping covers a host of military exports and imports and this is seen across the board in commercial merchant shipping. Those thousands of containers, may contain more than meets the expected eye?

DART. Part-One.

Dublin Area Rapid Transport.

The DART was the Irish Republics first attempt at thie own electric railways, initially running from Bray in north Co. Wicklow to Howth Co. Dublin. The first trains were West-German in make Linke-Hofmann-Busch 2 car units built in 1983 at Saltzgitter. These original 40 cars were upgraded by Seimens in Liepzig, Germany, in 2008, apart from sets 8110 and 8136 that were destroyed by a fire at the Fairview depot in 2001 and scrapped.

The Class 8100 have now been joined by the new Class 8200 built in Spain by GEC-Alstrom at Santa Perpetua de Mogoda. Both use the 1500 V Dc overhead. there is a small variation in weights, but speed remains at 62mph. 

The network has greatly expanded over the years with an extention to Greystones and to Malahide. the latest additions to the ever need for increasing fleet has come from Japan. The 8500, 8510 and 8520 all built by Tokyu car corperation, Yokohama. Some of these newer vehicles have not lived up to expectations with many breakdown problems, All are 4-car units with a speed of 68 mph to slightly above.

Driverless Vehicles. Part-One.

Robotic Vehicles.

What is behind the idea to have a driver less vehicle? Is it a way to control speed and cut out joy riding and motorway incidents! What advantage do we have without the human over ride, if one is not fitted and will these vehicles be monitored by the police and security to know were we travel too?

The benefits may come in slower speeds and helping people with disability, but a lot will be lost perhaps to the freedoms of driving we currently have. The individual choice of a sports car over and small family car may be lost in us only having the types provided.

Will these new cars be driven by petrol engines or electric, will they be fitted with hidden sensors even to the point of security cameras to gather behavioural information? 

They are questions worth answering before the world goes down the road of more state control. What will happen to the vehicles we now have, will they become obsolete, banned or limited in their use and what about the rest of the world?

Getting about.

The Automobile, Car.

It is being claimed that within the next ten-years all petrol driven cars will have given way to electric ones. This will be over other types and developments already under way, cars that are electric will of course be silent.

Another development is the driver less car which is already making progress, but I wonder what the side effects of all this new and cleaner technology will bring? 

Will the governments be able to override our speed on the roads and motorways, will they be able to track us with built in chips or will we all be under security surveillance. 

Despite the many good concepts, there is always an opposite and more sinister one.

Easter Weekend Attractions.

Steam fairs to Vintage displays.

Many people around the globe this weekend are going to perhaps attend some kind of event, which has been laid on for the Easter holidays. From vintage trains, specials, fairs, displays, regattas and so the lists can go on and on.

I wonder what we are going out to see may be the best of that has survived time or the rare, the one offs. What ever it is, I hope you have a good time and enjoy riding, filming, photographing or just watching.

Tomorrows classics today are already being marked out for the collectors clubs and collections and their are still many types of machines that await restoration or to be purchased. But what was not able to be saved and what has been lost, perhaps due to lack of part?

The reason for these biog posts are to encourage anyone out their to do something, even if it is just maintaining your lawnmower, and any other machine. But it is also to come up with new ideas or adaptions of older one.

Armoured Reconnaisance Vehicles.

'ARV's.

Most modern versions of this vehicle are now tracked and carry a crew of three. The ARV can be described as a sort of in between, a heavy armoured car and a light tank.

Many nations use either armoured cars with 76-90mm guns or a light tank with guns up to 105mm, but the ARV has many more options available to it. Such as Surface to air missile systems, anti-tank guided weapons and a wide range of guns. The vehicles are also tracked meaning that they can operate cross country and are not limited to ground type.

What do we want in a car, speed, 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, comfort, style and taste are these the essential keys to owning any car.

If we own this type of car, is to impress others, to say who we are or is it just for our own pleasure, and to express our self-achievement? 

There are many models today on the market from stylish racey numbers to the more sublime and gentle, so what ever you can afford or want it is out there. Some cars are hand made, perhaps the personnel touch has more quality attached to it?

Porche, Lamborgene, BMW, Aston Martin, Mustang, Ferrari, Jaguar, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lotus, Morgan, are but a few of what is available.

Town Planning. Part-Two.

In the planning of new towns or multiple population centres, most are laid out for the automobile and buses. The problems with cars is that you also need to plan for parking and you do not want the centres to be conjested.

Towns are usually built or expanded near to an existing freeway/motorway and or railroad/metro. But which of these is the best and what modern additions or re-introductions could be added? 

The tram, sometimes now known as a metro link is a viable asset combing the bus and the rail feature. Big cities go for underground/subway extension's or complete new lines.

Really what you need to do is move loads of people from A to B in a fast, clean, efficient and safe way.

The car has know been with us for well over one-hundred years. The first vehicles were steam powered, slow and dirty. But with the introduction of the petrol engine and the Ford mass-produced production lines, cars have become available to nearly everyone. 

What does the future hold for vehicles such as these, with the rising prices of fuel and the problems of pollution? 

Will the introduction of a hydrogen-Cell powered car be mass produced or limited perhaps initially just to police, military and emergency services and/or the wealthy. 

Will steam return in a new form, that is cleaner, will solar power vehicles as seen in science ficition come to the fore?

What is the future to be of the electric car?
